Descriptive essay

Ex.
Titlu (title): A Saturday Morning
Ideea centrală (central idea): a day spent in the city can be extremely interesting
Introducere (introduction):
- decision to spend a day in the city: square-gardens
- first impressions
Detaliere (development):
-          arrival at the square: people, pigeons, statues
-          incident: a girl and the pigeons; Rastus
-          change od scenery: The Public Gardens
-          a visit to the lake – more interesting – boats
-          rest

Concluzie (conclusion):
-          afternoon
-          leave for home
-          surprise that the city could offer so many interesting things

A Saturay Morning
Although I usually go on trips to the country during the week-end, I had decided to spend my Saturday in the city for a change. I wanted to visit the central square and the public gardens. It was early when I left home and the streets seemed deserted. Without the usual crowds and traffic, everything was strangely quiet. There was no one on the streets, except me and my dog, Rastus.
When, at last, I arrived at the square, I was surprised to find the place so alive. All the townspeople were there, as if asked to meet and have fun. Some of them were feeding the pigeons, others were walking the children and there were others sitting peacefully at the foot of a tall statue in the centre of the square. I went and sat with them so as to have a better view and have a chat with them. What amused me most was a little girl who was trying to make pigeons fly up to her shoulder. She was holding some bird-seeds in her palm and whenever a pigeon approached, she was laughing so much, that she chased it away. And Rastus seemed to have fun, too. He began running after the pigeons, but could catch none. In the end, he gave up his “hunt” and came to rest on my foot.
Some time later, I made my way to the Public Gardens. Here there was an entirely different atmosphere. The sun was now bright and warm and the air was filled with merry laughter.
The lake and the bridge interested me more than anything else, because  many people had come to sail model boats. They were vividly coloured and moved gracefully across the water, carried by the wind.
After resting for a while under a tree, I went and joined a number of people who had gathered round a man with a big model of a famous sailing ship called “The Blue Angel”. It was perfectly made and I gazed at it with admiration as its owner placed it in the water where it sailed majestically among the ducks and swans.
In the afternoon, I left the gardens and slowly began walking home. I was not at all sorry that I had not gone to the country for the week-end. There had been much more to see in the city on a Saturday morning than I could ever have imagined.
